Found! On the very same day I saw my first couch of the year, Isis saw this broken down beauty on NE Beech and 77th. This is promising to be a banner year for discarded couches.

Couch 1-12-13

This couch (and bonus chair) were spotted on SE 45th and Brooklyn by the inimitable Andrea. I imagine the original owners were blown off of them and into the street, where they became so disoriented they wandered away.

In case you were concerned about asking for the price of this couch, the previous owner placed a sign conscientiously on the front. This couch was so close to my work that I briefly considered tying it to the back of my scooter and dragging it in.

This dignified old bear is thawing out on SE 52nd. Why don’t you give it a home?

Somebody will have a good weekend indeed if they snap up this couch. Today it sits out with the garbage, tomorrow it could host a wine and cheese party. Such are the whims of a chaotic and random universe.

Couch 3-3-14

On this sunny March afternoon, I stopped my scooter on the corner of SE 51st and Tibbetts to immortalize this gorgeous darling.

I saw this couch on my ride in to work yesterday morning, but I didn’t have time to get a picture. All day long I hoped and prayed that it would be there on my ride home. So many good couches get snapped up during the day, and while I’m happy they have found a new home, I wish I could’ve documented their transitional period.

It was with much relief, then, that this couch was awaiting me in the afternoon.

reed-discarded-couch-4-24-14After a slight drought, including one sighting of a chair which did not qualify for this blog, I walked by this beautiful creature on the Reed campus today. I was with Katie, otherwise I might have chalked this up to a fever dream. She let me borrow her phone to snap this picture, making sure I got the wicker side. I’m not sure where this couch originated (a professor’s nap couch?) but am certain it has already been snapped up. That’s just the way things go at Reed.
