When a bemused patron of the arts approaches my table at a convention and says, “so what is it you do here?”, I’ve found it difficult to succinctly and dynamically talk about the characters I’ve lived with for over six years. It’s almost like being asked to explain your best friend. Instead of writing “Ernesto is a large lizard, Carver is a cranky owl…” I let my characters speak for themselves.
