It’s been far too long since I’ve announced the Falling Rock Babe of the Month. As longtime readers are aware, the perpetual Babe of the Month here at Falling Rock is Pam the javelina. She is a chain-smoking retired middle school teacher. I should have put text before the picture; most of you probably never even got around to reading this. You’re all slobbering over Pam’s attractive physique. Well, go ahead. You’ve only got one more week until I announce September’s Babe of the Month. (Hint: it’s gonna be Pam.)
This year I’ve been doing very well at conventions. So well, in fact, that I have sold out of Welcome to Falling Rock National Park, the third comic strip collection. Way back in 2009, I never thought I’d run out of the 500 copies I printed.
I had no idea how good comics can look on tablets. When I uploaded a simple PDF of the book to an iPad, I was amazed at how clean and clear the image was. Since I didn’t want to reprint this collection, I thought I’d try selling it as an ebook.
Going back over the collection, I decided to fix up a few drawings. I wanted this to be not just a slapped-together copy of the book I published, but an updated and expanded version of my curated collection of strips from 2008-2009. See if you can spot the changes!
After initially getting the idea for this painting after my friend Andy got married last year in the mountains of Colorado, I made a Photoshop collage of all the elements, got out a nice piece of watercolor paper, did a rough sketch, and left it on the desk for over a year. Finally, last weekend, I decided to finish (or perhaps more accurately, “start”) it.
